The story behind Fading Shades

Fading Shades started out as a simple idea, that later evolved into a game. In its early stages, I used a program called Medi8tor, which was not appropriate for game development. I did the majority of the graphics in 2005.

In 2006 I teamed up with Mr.Lou / Dewfall Productions, who composed the cool ingame music. He also had lots of ideas for the game concept, so he has indeed inspired me a lot.

Same year I discovered a free program suiteable for making adventure games, called Adventure Game Studio (AGS). The game was then redone from scratch.

During 2007, I hardly worked on it at all, but in 2008 I pulled myself together and finished it.

Links

I've gathered some Fading Shades links, that could be worth a visit.

  • AGS made Fading Shades their Pick of the Month May 2009, which was really surprising. (In a positive way of course). Visit the AGS Games page here

  • At Ultimate Game Solutions, Leon wrote a complete walkthrough. So if you get stuck or decide to cheat, this is where to look

  • I got contacted by Marlene "The Cat", who has made this nice video walkthough of the game. I'm really honored to see my game in a video walkthrough. View it here

  • By coincidence I stumbled upon this review on a blog called "an occasional player's review" Read the review here

I will continue to add links if I find more. If you are aware of any kind of Fading Shades mention, that is not on this list, please let me know :-)
